Handwarmer pattern, as promised
You need: a bit less than 200 yds or 100g of worsted weight yarn. 1 skein of Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece, Patons Classic Wool, Cascade 220, or that sort of thing will do nicely. Also, a set of 5 DPNs in size 6 or 7, whatever gets you 5 stitches to the inch in stockinette stitch. The mitts are made on 4 DPNs; use the fifth for cabling, or use a cable needle if you prefer.
Abbreviations:
C4B = slip 2 st to DPN and hold in back. K2 from left needle, then K2 from DPN
C4F = slip 2 st to DPN and hold in front. K2 from left needle, then K2 from DPN
C1B = slip 1 st to DPN and hold in back. K2 from left needle, then P1 from DPN
C2F = slip 2 st to DPN and hold in front. P1 from left needle, then K2 from DPN
M1 = make one stitch using backward loop cast-on
PM = place marker
Cable pattern is done in the round. Round 1 is set-up round; thereafter, every odd-numbered round you should K all K stitches and P all P stitches.
