more market mitts

Last week I whipped up a pair of Dashing mitts.

I couldn't make mitts for Kathy-who-sells-delicious-and-free-of-toxic-sprays-produce at the farmers' market without doing the same for the guy in the stand next to hers, could I? Because he looks just as cold on those chilly mornings and he sells delicious goat cheese that I buy every week (even though I'm the only one in the house who appreciates the deliciousness of fine goat chevre, camembert and bleu and therefore I am the only one who eats it, but that's okay because it means more for me, right?). And he gave me a couple free samples of the hot sauce he wants to bottle for sale next season. And it's the best hot sauce EVER: very hot, very spicy, but it actually has flavor, too, and not that off-flavor like the ones in the store, but good flavor.

These are just in time, too. Today was Antony's last day at the market this season, so we won't see him or buy his delicious cheese until May. It's actually a little warm for the mitts today, ironically, but he said he likes them. I forgot to mention that they are superwash. You know, in case he wears them milking the goats or something.

(I'm not sure what Anya was upset about while we were taking pictures. Probably wanted to sit in my lap or something.)

Pattern: Dashing from Knitty Spring 2007
Yarn: Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Superwash Worsted, a little under 1 skein
Made for: Antony, the goat cheese and hot sauce guy at the farmers' market
Mods: none, though these seem pretty long. If I made them again, I would leave out some of the rounds before the thumb hole.

ETA: I just noticed I used the word "delicious" about 5 times in this post. Sheesh. I think I need a thesaurus.
