comfort knitting

It has been a rough couple of weeks around here. Sickness, more sickness, a stolen debit card (thanks to the knitpicks security breach, I'm quite sure) has all led to general exhaustion and getting really behind on everything on my part. Also, there was quite distressing news yesterday concerning the health of someone in my extended family; you never, ever want to see "malignancy" and "spinal cord" in the same sentence. Hopefully we'll know more soon.

In any case, I badly needed some comfort knitting yesterday. I was feeling kind of crummy and my poor daughter was feeling worse, so I picked out some soft, pretty stash yarn I bought when Daniel was a baby and started a blanket while watching TV with her. This is the best comfort knitting: easy garter stitch with nothing to think about other than increases at the beginning of each row.

It's gotten a lot bigger since I took that picture this morning. I'm not tired of it yet. Right now it feels good just to knit, knit, knit and wait and hope for things to get better.
