hearthstone for Anya

Door Creek Orchard is one of my favorite places around here. They have delicious apples, and a nature trail with a pond and a gorgeous weeping willow tree, and happy sheep on a hillside.

I took the kids out there a couple weekends ago while Stuart was out of town. We bought apples and sipped cider, though it was too cold and muddy to walk the nature trail or even visit the sheep. Still, it was nice to go and enjoy the view and bring home a big bag of local apples.

A nice family offered to take our picture by the pumpkins. As you can see, the bales of straw were to soggy and gross to sit upon.

We did briefly walk down to the weeping willow, at which point the rest of the nature trail was deemed far too muddy for exploring.

But look! What's that Anya is wearing? Why, it's a new sweater!

I have to say, this is one of the faster turnaround times I've had from buying yarn to finishing a sweater. Smaller projects get done faster, but sweaters sometimes languish for a while. I got the yarn last month at the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool festival and finished the sweater about a month later (more details below). I love this sweater, and so does Anya. I just kinda wish I'd bought enough yarn to make myself one, too!

Pattern: Hearthstone by Ysolda Teague, from the Heart on my Sleeve collection from TinCan Knits, size 10-12
Yarn: BFL by Ewetopia that I bought at Wisconsin S&W this September
Mods: I did a garter rib at the cuffs and sweater bottom instead of regular ribbing, just because I like the look of it. I also added a LOT of length. My girl is tall, I guess.
Comments: The fit is not especially generous. When I was done knitting, I wet-blocked the sweater and stretched the sleeve width pretty aggressively at the upper arm. I could have sized the whole thing up to the adult XS for a roomier fit, though I love the way it looks on her now. I just don't want it to be too tight too soon.
