harumph!

I am unhappy.

Why, you ask?

Because after swooning over Thea's latest sweater design and knitting up the body portion as fast as I could, I have just now realized that there is a problem. Can you see it?

Look closely at how the middle portion pulls up. When I measure it, that part is a good inch shorter than the rest. It's my own fault for not slipping my stitches correctly before the psso in that middle lace section. Who knew you were supposed to do it knit wise? I've always slipped them purl wise and been non the wiser UNTIL NOW. Because do you know what happens when you slip your stitches purl wise instead of knit wise on a lace pattern like this? Do you? It makes the whole fabric tighter and denser and throws your row gauge out of whack and makes your sweater look all funny, that's what.

I know what I have to do. I have to pull it out and reknit the whole dang thing. That's a good 2-3 weeks' worth of knitting right there going right down the drain. I'm grumpy about it, too. My 7yo even offered to pull it out for me, but I told him I have to put on my big girl panties and do it myself. (Then he asked what are panties. I said they're underwear for girls and the word creeps me out for some reason so I never use it end of discussion.)

I'm still working up the nerve to frog this thing. At least I can salvage the ribbing.

Oh dear, that is hard! If it makes you. On slipping stitches, I knit for decades before learning that you should generally slip sititches purl wise -- I only did it knit wise.

The sweater will be lovely. And it will let you know when the right time to riot it comes.

So pretty. I hate that. I've got about a foot of afghan that I have to rip and I just can't seem to bring myself to do it. I've just put it up for now.

On another note, I am also creeped out by "panties" and almost never say it. I have passed this on to my children and Maren will literally scream if someone says panties in her presence.
